Overview

Le Coup de Torchon is a charming French restaurant tucked away on Rue Saint-Jacques in the heart of Paris’s Latin Quarter. This intimate spot, run by a dedicated husband and wife team, offers a genuine taste of classic French home cooking in a warm and unpretentious setting. The space itself is cozy, inviting diners to linger over well-crafted meals that echo traditional flavors without pretension.

The menu features standout dishes that exemplify the richness of French cuisine. Duck arrives tender and flavorful, paired perfectly with the house-made sauce Béarnaise, a highlight frequently praised by patrons. The Soupe à l'oignon, topped generously with crispy croûtons and melted Emmental, showcases the kitchen’s mastery over this beloved French classic. Beef Bourguignon, slow-cooked to deep, savory perfection, connects you directly to rustic French countryside cooking. For those seeking lighter fare, the veal and chicken skewers offer a simple yet satisfying option, perfectly grilled and seasoned.

Desserts at Le Coup de Torchon continue the theme of authenticity and finesse. The Crème Brûlée au Rhum Ambré presents a delicate balance of creamy custard and caramelized sugar, enriched with a subtle amber rum note. The Tarte au Citron Meringuée delivers a bright, zesty counterpoint to the rich mains, its meringue light and airy, providing the ideal ending to a French feast.

Le Coup de Torchon appeals primarily to diners who appreciate the essence of traditional French cooking in a setting that feels personal and genuine. It is perfectly suited for those who seek an authentic culinary experience away from the bustling tourist hubs yet still in the vibrant heart of Paris. The combination of thoughtfully prepared food, attentive service, and an inviting atmosphere makes this restaurant an excellent destination for both locals and travelers craving quality and warmth without extravagance.

Overall, Le Coup de Torchon stands out as a true gem where every dish tells the story of French culinary heritage, served with care in a small but memorable space.

Authentic french cuisine in a pleasant small setting. The sauce Béarnaise with the beef brochette was fantastic, so was the onion soup. Our dishes were wiped clean. Definitely recommended!

Great great great!!!! The food is really delicious and typical french! Highly recommend it!! The prices are affordable, even not compared with other restaurants in Paris, for a menu (starter+main dish+dessert) you pay only 20 eur.

Great little find. One waiter for this 6 table restaurant. Food was amazing as I had Beef Bourguignon after the French onion soup followed by my fave Lemon Meringue Pie. It was a beautiful quiet restaurant until 1 table of US Republicans drowned out everyone else. Not the restaurants fault. Will return after my next trip to Paris

Great little place where we had lunch. Very authentic and tasteful. The dishes were fresh and well balanced in flavor. They offer a price fix for lunch, less than €20 for a starter, main, and dessert. I took the starter and main for €18.
